Why should I get saved?

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (KJB)

Salvation is the means by which God in His grace, delivers us from our well deserved punishment, this is done through a blood atonement (the death of Jesus Christ) which took place nearly 2000 years ago. Salvation is not only how we escape the coming judgment of the lost world but also a reconciliation between us and Jesus Christ, who is God manifest in the flesh. If you don't like punishment, but you like good things then you should get saved.

What happens if I don't get saved?

Once a person who has rejected Jesus Christ throughout his or her life dies, they face judgment. Contrary to popular belief death is not the end. When a person dies in their sins they are judged and end up in hell. However it's not over yet. After Jesus returns to the earth to establish His kingdom, and after several events take place then that person will receive their final judgment. They will spend eternity in the lake of fire (the second death). They will have no hope, no rest, and not a drop of water to cool the tongue.

That's horrible, So what do I do?

Romans 10:13 “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (KJB)

If you don't want to end up in hell when you die then there is only one way to make sure you won't. Jesus Christ is your only hope, He is the way, the truth, and the life. There is no other way. Right now would be the best time to get this resolved because you don't know if you will have tomorrow, much less another minute. Good works cannot save you! They are not enough, So here is what you must do.

1. Admit you are a sinner, Give up your self righteousness (Romans 3:23, Romans 3:10)

2. Repent, Be sorry (Acts 17:30) - [If you feel like you aren't but you want to be, you are.]

3. Believe the gospel (1 Corinthians 15:1-4) - [Death, burial, resurrection of Jesus Christ]

4. Ask Jesus to forgive you of your sins and to be your Lord and Savior (Romans 10:9-10)

~You might pray something like this:

Dear God, I am a sinner and need forgiveness. I believe that Jesus Christ shed His precious blood and died for my sin. I am willing to turn from sin. I now invite Christ to come into my heart and life as my personal Saviour.

But how do I know that I'm saved? (OSAS)

Jesus left us His perfect word and of course with it we can know that we are saved. So here are some verses of Scripture which offer assurance of salvation. Knowing the Bible is the word of God you can have confidence in your salvation. This is not something a Catholic, Muslim, Buddhist, or other religious follower can have. You can be sure Jesus will never leave you nor forsake you, or cast you out. Even if He becomes unpleased with you. We can always trust God, He cannot lie. Once we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, we become a part of His body. The Bible says He cannot deny Himself. Now there are earthly and heavenly consequences for willfully continuing in sin after salvation, however you will not be condemned to hell for it. A good thing to remember when the devil tells you that your beyond forgiving is that nothing including him can separate you from the love of Christ.

Nobody is able to steal you away from God, and contrary to Hollywood myth you cannot sell your soul. God already owns it. Many professing Christians would love to convince you that you need to continue in good works to remain saved. That's foolish and there are many blatant issues with that. A good example is the fact that Jesus has given believers eternal life, eternal means forever, if you have eternal life how can you be sent to hell? You can't.

Some people are also worried that they have committed the unforgivable sin (Blasphemy of the Holy Ghost), if your one of them don't worry you haven't, see my article on that issue.

Unsure if God would forgive you?

At this point a small portion of you may be thinking, but I was really bad, I killed, I cheated, I was a rapist, and I could go on... So why would God forgive me? It's important for you to know God is a very clear cut and dry kind of person. If He says all is forgiven, all is forgiven. No if's and's or but's, NONE!

Here are a few verses for the individual who still fears that they have done or could do something to anger God, to a point where he would no longer consider them worthy of or acceptable for salvation. Keep in mind we are saved by grace through faith, Nobody is worthy. (1 John 1:9), (1 John 1:7), (Acts 10:43), (Matthew 6:14-15), (Ephesians 1:7), (1 John 2:1-2). If you've read those verses you may have taken notice of a few things, namely "all sin", "[the sins of] the whole world.", and "all unrighteousness". By these it becomes quite clear that any sin can be forgiven, regardless of how depraved. In closing for this topic I also wanted to add the fact that King David (who slept with a mans wife then had that man killed) and Paul the Apostle (who punished, persecuted and imprisoned Christians before his conversion. And also compelled them to blaspheme, (being a blasphemer himself) were both saved and are now in heaven. Even further Paul was chosen to be an Apostle and wrote the books of [Romans, 1 & 2 Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, 1 & 2 Thessalonians, 1 & 2 Timothy, Titus, Philemon, and possibly even Hebrews, all for our Lord Jesus Christ.] Note; Paul calls himself the chief of sinners, if you don't believe Paul, trust Jesus, it's His perfectly preserved word which Paul is speaking in.

For the avid reader:

I'm by no means endorsing the full ministry or content of the website that this article comes from, howbeit this is a great article on the subject of whether or not a believer can lose his salvation.

(If you didn't fully understand this post or you want to know more, then I would highly recommend this article. It's quite detailed and it will certainly disperse with almost any excuse that you could come up with to suggest that you can lose your salvation.)
